Presentation

Saumane is a town where life is pleasant, and which happily strives to combine dynamism and tranquility.
Visit its temple (1875), and its church (12th century) which have been recently renovated… and in the surrounding area, discover its many bridges.

In the heart of the Borgne Valley, Saumane peacefully stretches its village along the river, among fields and meadows. It was formerly called "Saumane le Castellas" because of a fortified structure of modest dimensions, perhaps dating back to the early Middle Ages, of which only traces remain today.

Saumane, the village with 7 bridges, go and find them!

The 18th and 19th centuries saw the golden age of silk production. Unprecedented prosperity revitalized the valley, leading to the emergence of spinning mills, silkworm farms, and new dwellings, giving rise to the current urban area and paving the way for modern technological advancements…
In 1847, the population was 522 and the village had two spinning mills. Can you find them?

Points of interest:
- The temple, built in 1875 and a 12th-century church

- Designated and supervised swimming area in the village during the summer
Tennis court.

Our events: Saumane festival at the beginning of July, Saumane fair on the last Sunday of July and our hiking trails are waiting to be discovered.
