Notre Dame de la Rouvière is a typical village of the southern Cévennes, clustered around its church. The village enjoys a privileged location and offers lovers of wide open spaces numerous exceptional sites and panoramas.

Notre Dame de la Rouvière is located on the immediate foothills of the granite mountain of Mont Liron. Notre Dame de la Rouvière is a typical village of the southern Cévennes, which is part of the new commune of Val d'Aigoual, like the other hamlets of Le Mazel, Puech Sigal, Le Mas Corbières, La Bastide, Cabriès, L'Euzière, La Borie, Valnières, etc.
Notre Dame de la Rouvière undoubtedly experienced a late but then permanent colonization, from the Neolithic period onwards, and then with the arrival of the Celts who led a bucolic life in the sunny valleys of Valnière or Reynus.

Numerous hiking trails crisscross the village with remarkable places such as the Col de l'Asclier located on the Margeride drovers' road, the Col de Bès and its menhir, Le Mazel and its old silk mill.

Points of interest:
- The Taleyrac Valley, above Mazel, is the cradle of the cultivation of the Sweet Onion of the Cévennes. This important agricultural activity is still practiced today.

- The former Mazel spinning mill is the most beautiful building in the area, set within an exceptional landscape.

- Puech Sigal, this medieval hamlet, which was undoubtedly the site of the first human settlement in the commune, is a true viewpoint. Rye was once cultivated here on its sunny terraces. Ancient houses with traditional chimneys, centuries-old cobbled streets, and threshing floors await discovery along the path.

- Draille de l'Asclier, used by farmers and sheep since the Neolithic period.

- Menhir of the Col du Bès: this megalith is erected at the crossroads of the paths of Saint-Martial, the Tribale, the Col de l'Asclier and Mont Liron.
