Take a break from the past at the Ferme Caussenarde d'Autrefois. Come and discover the life of your (grand)parents in this authentic farmhouse, complete with all the furniture and equipment of the era.
A unique place and a timeless experience:
- for lovers of heritage, and more specifically the heritage of the Grands Causses,
- for those curious to discover the skills of the ancients,
- for clever people who like to learn while having fun.
- for those clever enough to want to learn about the agropastoralism of yesteryear
- for the cunning ones who want to learn more about self-sufficient living
- for enthusiasts of antique objects
The Causses Farm of Yesteryear is a private, family-run museum of rural life, still owned by the family of its last inhabitants. With its typical Causses architecture, some twenty rooms, and a farmhouse preserved in its original state, it offers a glimpse into the lives of farmers of yesteryear, as if you were there. A visit alone, as a couple, with family, friends, or in a group is guaranteed to be a pleasant experience.
As you wander through the house, from the living room to the bedrooms, you can discover the furniture, dishes, and linens of that era. The stable, workshop, sheepfold, barn, attic, and bread oven will familiarize you with the life and tools of the time. Antique farm machinery, old photographs, a miniature stone village, and a screening of an excerpt from the film Lou Mèjio will help you imagine the daily lives of the families who lived on these farms.
A treasure hunt is available for children. Allow at least 1 to 1.25 hours for a self-guided visit, with indoor activities for discovery and outdoor fun (photo opportunities, self-service activities). Depending on the time of year, some farm animals (rabbits, chickens, sheep) may also be present.
For those of you who wish to compare life on the Farm of Yesteryear with life on the Farm of Today, you can opt in July/August for the "Sheep and Men" package... 3 hours for a self-guided visit to the Caussenarde Farm of Yesteryear + a guided visit by the farmer from the Farm of Today (GAEC de Hyelzas farm - dairy sheep) + a tasting led by a gourmet guide at the Fromagerie le Fédou (raw sheep's milk cheeses)
Escape Game The Cursed Blood in the evening, all year round, by online reservation.
Warning: Not suitable for children under 16.
Note: Access for wheelchairs and strollers remains difficult, but we have solutions (virtual tour on tablet from reception for wheelchair users, loan of baby carriers).
