Mialet
Located 10 minutes from Anduze in the Mialet Valley, the Grotte de Trabuc, a geological jewel of the Cévennes, can be discovered as a family, on an interactive, staged and secure illuminated trail, which places the visitor at the heart of authentic nature.
The self-guided audio tour (off-season) and guided tour (summer) offers an immersive experience in the history and magic of this magnificent natural site, a designated "Esprit Parc national des Cévennes" (Cévennes National Park Spirit). The interactive lighting system, combined with the gradual discovery of the galleries and their mineral beauty, transports visitors to an unusual and playful underground world.
It's a living cave, where water tirelessly leaves its mark on the stone, cascading down in flowing draperies to the foot of Midnight Lake in a play of shadows and light. Trabuc harbors a mysterious phenomenon: an army of 100,000 soldiers at the foot of the great wall! A formation unique in the world.
Frequented at its natural entrance by the Huguenots during the Wars of Religion, then by the Trabucaires, highwaymen who used it as a hiding place, it was in 1945 that the upper network was discovered, now developed and accessible to the public.
The Trabuc cave offers different visitor experiences depending on your preferences.
Each season has its own program!
*The Double Visit: Relight the flame of the carbide lamps, a joyful old-fashioned descent.
Spectacular! The summer night events “The cave is on fire” by the light of thousands of candles! An artistic and ephemeral lighting of the place.
*Magical! "The magic of Christmas lights" with the re-enchanted underground landscapes of Santa's cave, to be seen with children's eyes, in December.
*Historical or scientific, through the offerings of Heritage Days and a regular annual program of workshops
*Fun, aimed at children, the Easter egg hunts and the Halloween candy hunts allow for a fun discovery of the site.
The Trabuc Cave is an essential stop on your trip to the south of France. Awarded the "Esprit Parc National des Cévennes" label, it is committed to responsible and sustainable development, taking into account visitor satisfaction and ensuring peace of mind while enjoying the discoveries offered.
Our goal is to do “Better rather than More”, while reconciling economic viability, heritage protection and development of the local economic fabric.
The management is committed to the customer experience, which is achieved through a friendly encounter with staff and guides and through an immersion in the underground environment, thus promoting environmental awareness through the sensory and emotional aspects of the experience.
The unique geological features of the TRABUC caves:
1- The diversity of decorations sculpted by nature, the crystalline aspect, the colors of minerals and oxides, surprising underground volumes, at every turn of the gallery.
2- A beautiful lighting highlighting of the aquatic spaces, the clarity of the waters, the sound of the flows, the movement of the waterfalls, the pools and its lake with turquoise reflections.
3- The Hall of the Mysterious 100,000 Soldiers with its wall, a singular vision of a landscape unique in the world that still perplexes the scientific community!
