Cocalière cave

Visit one of the most beautiful caves in France. The tour follows an easy route. With an indoor temperature of 14 degrees, it's advisable to bring warm clothing. The return journey takes place by small train through the natural site.

Guided and commented throughout a secure route lasting approximately one hour, the underground visit to La Cocalière is accessible to all ages. The temperature here is constant, around 14 degrees, and you discover a living cave, that is to say still in formation.

Besides the usual calcite formations, stalagmites and stalactites of various sizes and shapes (including massive ones and columns), you can admire the discs along the way – circular concretions defying the laws of gravity. Those at La Cocalière are among the most beautiful and unusual, from delicate draperies (or calcite ribbons) to semi-transparent growth rings suspended from the ceiling, not forgetting the eccentric budding crystals and the elongated, incredibly thin stalactites or macaroni formations.

All these geological curiosities are most often reflected in the clear or bluish water of the rimstone pools, or natural basins with calcite-fringed edges. Those in the Salle des Gours, arranged in tiers, are remarkable. Along the way, a cave pearl in formation will capture your attention, all the more so as it is a visually extremely rare natural phenomenon.

Near the exit, you can see a model of a prehistoric excavation site displaying Neolithic and Bronze Age artifacts and bones. From there, a small train will take you back to the reception area along a path through the garrigue.

Discovery Trail - The 35-minute walk takes place on a shaded route, partially accessible to strollers. Access is free.
