Free guided tour of Mareilles Castle during the European Heritage Days
The Château de Mareilles is built on a rocky spur overlooking the old town center of Le Vigan. It occupies the summit, surrounded by terraces and gardens laid out in a series of paths. It was built on the site of an 18th-century château founded by the Count of Larue de Mareilles. Albert Brun d'Arre purchased the property in 1921 and commissioned Louis Carlier, a young representative of a generation of renowned architects from Languedoc, to design his future home in 1923.
