Museum Overview
Just 1,2 km from the old village of Saint Roman de Codières lies the Col de la Pierre Plantée. At an altitude of 660 m, the site is home to the most famous of the commune's seven menhirs.
The seven menhirs on the territory of the commune testify to a human presence at the end of the Neolithic period (approximately 9,000 to 3,300 BC). They are often found at the edge of a path, on a transhumance route, at the crossing of a mountain pass.
The most famous is that of the Planted Stone, which was probably brought from elsewhere because its rock does not correspond to that of the place.
