Presentation

Between the spectacular high cliffs of the Blandas plateau and the Séranne mountain, the Vis meanders in many tight bends, perfect for dipping your feet in the water.

The Vis Gorges, dominated by the Seranne massif and the Causse de Blandas plateau, form a canyon carved into sedimentary rock, creating a landscape of cliffs and scree cones, caves, and springs. The contrast between the gorges and the plateaus fosters rich biodiversity and a high-quality ecosystem. The Vis is a small, meandering river bordered by abundant vegetation and a tributary of the Hérault. During its journey, the Vis has carved its bed through impressive limestone plateaus: the causses. Joined by the Virenque, the two rivers continued their work, eventually forming a canyon known as the Vis Gorges.
