Saint Etienne d'Issensac Bridge

Built in the Middle Ages, it spans the Hérault river and allowed the passage of pilgrims towards St Guilhem Le Désert, a stop on the Way of St James to Compostela.

Built in the Middle Ages, the bridge of Saint-Étienne-d'Issensac spans the Hérault River near the former priory of the same name. It allowed pilgrims to cross to Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, a stop on the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago). It was built with a humpbacked arch and retains three of its original five arches. Under the Ancien Régime, Saint-Étienne-d'Issensac was a parish of about 70 inhabitants, comprised of several farmsteads.
It has been classified as a Historical Monument since 1948.
