Le Vigan - Alzon - Col de la Barriere - Homs - Vissec - Blandas - Montdardier - Le Vigan
A slightly longer route on the Causse with the possibility of going to see the cirque of Navacelles from the Blandas viewpoint.
Your ride will begin with a gentle uphill climb to the Alzon tunnel, which you'll need to bypass via a short climb as it's closed to cyclists. After Alzon, you'll leave the D999 for a less busy but rather steep road, the D49, to Campestre and Luc, then take the D270 to the Col de la Barrière and Homs (D273).
Then head south on a small road typical of the Causse region and return downhill to Vissec via Sorbs. You will need to climb back up to the village of Blandas via the D113. If you are not familiar with the Cirque de Navacelles or if you would like to see it again, you can take a short out-and-back trip (less than 3 km) to the Blandas viewpoint, from where you can admire the majestic cirque and the meanders of the Vis river.
The return journey follows a fairly straight road to the village of Montdardier (the D113) and its imposing castle. The descent along the winding road (the D48s) then offers a beautiful view of Le Vigan against the backdrop of the Aigoual massif and the Cévennes mountains.
