A fairly challenging hike, crossing from mountain pass to mountain pass, with magnificent panoramic views of varied landscapes and the Aigoual massif. A 5-day trek to discover, among other things, the national forest.
A fairly challenging hike, crossing from mountain pass to mountain pass, with magnificent panoramic views of varied landscapes and the Aigoual massif. This 5-day trek allows you to discover, among other things, the national forest with its mixed tree species, beech groves, and natural fir stands, which are particularly refreshing in summer. The route follows the old transhumance trails connecting the Languedoc plains to the high mountain pastures.
Day 1 – From Le Vigan to Cap de Côte (GR®60a), 10km, 980m of positive elevation gain and 38m of negative elevation gain.
From Cap de Côte it is possible to make a round trip to the André Chamson monument (GR®60) via the Draille (1h30).
Day 2 – From Cap de Côte to l'Espérou (GR®60 and GR®7), 12 km, 340 m of positive elevation gain and 297 m of negative elevation gain.
Day 3 – From L'Espérou to Mont Aigoual, 10 km, 582 m of positive elevation gain and 238 m of negative elevation gain.
Day 4 – From Mont Aigoual to Puechagut (Maison des Cévennes), (GR®7), 17,5 km, 400 m of positive elevation gain and 959 m of negative elevation gain.
Day 5 – From Puechagut to Le Vigan, (GR®7), 9 km, 86 m of positive elevation gain and 853 m of negative elevation gain.
