Taleyrac Trail

The bottom of the Taleyrac Valley is rich in water. In the heyday of the silk industry, the ferries were used for mulberry plantations. Around 1947, farmers began developing peach orchards.

This trail begins in Campredon, a hamlet in the Taleyrac Valley, a valley recognized as an emblematic area for the production of the Cévennes Sweet Onion in the application for the Remarkable Taste Site designation. The schist/granite hike takes us across the other side of the valley, overlooking the Valleraugue Valley, offering beautiful panoramic views of Mont Aigoual and the surrounding area. The woodlands are primarily holm oak and downy oak, with remnants of former chestnut groves now abandoned. The trail passes the Col de l'Elze pass and then descends back to Taleyrac via the old cobbled path carved into the rock. This ancient route once connected St. André de Majencoules with Valleraugue – a remarkable piece of local heritage.
