Trèves is located in the heart of the Trévezel gorges, at the foot of the Causse Bégon and the Causse Noir. Its origins are very ancient, as evidenced by the old bridge, the medieval streets, the Romanesque church…

Trier,
Yesterday and today…The village is crossed by the Trévezel at the outlet of its gorges, it also straddles the Cévennes part, with the granite valley of the Dourbie, the schistous left bank of the Trévezel and the limestone Causse part, with the right bank of the Trévezel, the Causse Bégon to the west and the Causse Noir to the north.
A rich architectural heritage testifies to a prosperous past due to its strategic location at the crossroads of trade.

Currently, the village is geared towards tourism, still benefiting from its favorable geographical location and magnificent landscapes.
As on all the Causses, agricultural activity is very much present, with the cultivation of cereals and the raising of mainly sheep for the production of Roquefort cheese, which is nearby.
