Points of interest: Menhirs and dolmens
The settlement of the Causse Noir and the founding of Lanuéjols remain a mystery. Between the 7th and 2nd centuries BC, the Celts settled in the region. The indigenous peoples of the Volcae Arecomici and the Ruteni shared the Causse, with the Valat de Garenne, which crosses the communes of Lanuéjols and Revens, serving as their border.
Menhirs, dolmens, burial caves bear witness to this past in our region. The Forest of the Commanders.
It consists of the communal woods of Devois and Rey, those of Commandeurs belonging to the National Forestry Office, those of Mont Mourié of Mr. Fages and of the Faïsse des Mazes of Mr. Libourel. Since time immemorial and without the reason being able to be explained to this day, it has been the main winter reserve of the fragile population of red deer in this whole area.

Walks around Lanuéjols:
- The Devois cross trail: the forest, encountering a transhumant herd, the clearing of the Devois cross, the plants...
- The Three Bishops' Cross Trail: the very agricultural hamlet of Mazes, the pastures, a restored dovecote, the flora of the limestone plateaus...
- The fox trail: very contrasting landscapes, spotting a fox very early in the morning, troglodyte cheese dairies...
- The three farms trail: Espinassous, Rogers, two castles, a Causses farm, vast sheep pastures, clapas, cultivated dolines, hedgerow flora...
